The Office of Continuing Medical Education and the Office of Graduate and Medical Student Education offer the following GME conferences and activities during 2010-2011

Faculty and Resident Development Series
When: Second Monday of every month
Time: Noon - 1 PM
Where: Probasco Auditorium, Erlanger Baroness Campus
Target Audience: All faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students are invited. All core faculty and residents are strongly encouraged to attend.

This educational series was developed by the Dean's Office to provide additional resources for faculty and residents in various General Compentency Domains that are not specifically related to one specialty or medical discipline: Patient Care, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Professionalism, and Systems-Based Practice.
Topics include a Medical Legal Curriculum and Teaching Skills.

Institutional Core Curriculum Grand Rounds
When: Second Tuesday of each month
Time: Noon - 1 PM
Where: Probasco Auditorium, Erlanger Baroness Campus
Target Audience: Core faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students. All residents, fellows, medical students, and faculty are invited, but residents and fellows in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years of training are required to attend.
This educational series was developed by the Office of Graduate and Medical Student Education to provide a foundational curriculum in areas not specific to one discipline or specialty.
General Competency Domains covered in this series include: Patient Care, Interpersonal
and Communication Skills, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Professionalism,
and Systems-Based Practice. Topics range from Malpractice for Residents, Practice- Management, Financial Basics for Residents, Sleep and Fatigue Education, Medical Ethics, etc.

2010 Annual Research Methods Nuts and Bolts Symposium
When: Friday, August 27, 2010
Where: UTC University Center, Chattanooga, TN
The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga sponsors an annual conference to provide the "nuts and bolts" regarding research methods and to encourage and engage community and academic investigators in the development of research. Faculty, residents, fellows, and medical students are encouraged to attend, and the Dean has required that all residents and fellows attend the conference at least once during their training.

The Complete Practice Management Seminar (TM)

3rd Annual History of Medicine Symposium
When: Thursday, October 7, 2010
Where: Probasco Auditorium, Erlanger Baroness Campus
This annual event was developed by the Office of Continuing Medical Education in an effort to educate physicians, residents, medical students, and other health care professionals about key historical events and milestones in the evolution of the medical profession. It occurs annually on the first Thursday in October as a half-day conference.

Annual Resident Malpractice Seminar
When: Tuesday, October 12, 2010
Time: 11 AM - 1 PM (Lunch served)
1:30 - 3:30 PM (Refreshments served)
Place: Probasco Audittorium, Baroness Erlanger Campus
The UT College of Medicine Chattanooga and State Volunteer Insurance Company jointly sponsor an annual Resident Malpractice Seminar. Two sessions are conducted to allow all residents and fellows to attend one of the two required sessions each year.
Note: The Annual Resident Malpractice Seminar took the place of the regularly scheduled Institutional Core Curriculum Grand Rounds for October 2010.

2011 Annual Research Week
When: Monday - Friday, April 11 - 15, 2011
Where: Posters on display all week in the Erlanger Medical Mall
The Annual Research Week is a multidisciplinary event to highlight and recognize research and scholarly activity such as interesting case reports that have been conducted at the UT College of Medicine Chattanooga over the past year. The week culminates with judging of posters and oral presentations on Friday, April 15, in Probasco Auditorium, and a dinner at which awards are presented that evening. This year's dinner is planned for at the Walden Club in downtown Chattanooga.
