2008 Nuts & Bolts Research Symposium

The University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga would like to invite you to our Annual Research Symposium. Our goal is to engage community and academic investigators in the development of research. In doing this we endeaver to improve patient care quality and evidence-based decision-making.

 

 

Learning Objectives 

  • Establish a knowledge base that encourages and promotes the ethical practice of research.
  • Improve understanding of mentorship, including the challenges of being an effective mentor, and of identifying an effective mentor for oneself.
  • Provide data resources for collaborative research to the academic and regional health care community.
  • Ground both community and academic investigators in expectations regarding research methodology and design, hypothesis development, abstract preparation, and data collection and analysis.
  • Describe current best practices in proposal writing and publication.

Who Should Attend?

  • Physicians, Residents and Students wishing to participate in research in the medical field.

Fees

Registration will include all educational sessions, breakfast, break and lunch. Discounted registration and education credits for physicians and healthcare professionals are made available for advance registrants by funding support from Erlanger Health Systems. Registration will be confirmed when payment is received.  Onsite registration is welcome, but seating, course materials and meals cannot be guaranteed for on-site registrants. Please register early.

 

Conference Attire

We encourage you to be comfortable as we spend two days at this quality education experience. Casual business attire and a light sweater or jacket
are suggested.

 

Conference Venue & Parking

Sessions will be held at the UTC University Center in the Tennessee, Raccoon and Signal Mountain Rooms. The UTC University Center is 0.4 mile from Erlanger Hospital. Just take a left at Palmeto and a right on Fifth St. You'll see the UTC Bookstore which is in the University Center. There will be signs to guide you to the conference rooms. Look for the signs to the room. There will be parking available in the Fifth Street parking garage at your own expense.

 

Accreditation The University of Tennessee College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Education Credits The University of Tennessee College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
